About La Grande

Nestled among the Blue Mountains and the Eagle Cap Wilderness, La Grande, Oregon is located in the center of the largest fully-enclosed valley in North America. The town itself is approximately 13,000 people and is a nationally accredited Tree Town. Sweet.

Eastern Oregon University, along with the numerous boutiques, art galleries, coffee shops, living room jam sessions, bike trails, bodies of running water, dive bars, drifters, and train cars, help to define the cultural landscape.

It’s pretty nice here.  (Google Map)

Venture up to MERA (Mt. Emily Recreation Area) – some great snowshoeing picturesque views of the valley to be had – or drive out Ladd Marsh scenic view and take in some great birding.

Throw a round of disc at Eastern Oregon University’s 9 hole frisbee golf coarse.   Drive out the old Highway 30 to Union for some history by way of Hot Lake Springs; a foundry, gallery, lodging and dining establishment sitting on top of a natural hot spring – it’s really steaming in the morning.
